1959 Triumph 'Twenty One'

Casings bead blasted

Having completely stripped the engine and assessed what would be needed, I took the casings plus head and barrels along to a friend in Tankerness for him to blast clean prior to reassembly.  He has made a fantastic job of everything but obtaining parts has been something of a challenge - I'd forgotten how poor some of the British reproduction parts can be, often requiring modification to achieve a satisfactory fit or finish.  Quite a bit different from the Japanese bikes I've been working on more recently.

Anyway, these are the casings ready for reassembly.  They certainly come up well but need very careful cleaning and inspection to make sure all oil-ways are clear and I always clear the threads with greased taps in case there is anything down a hole which shouldn't be there.

Just a few bits to finish off and then it can go back to join the finished frame and tinware for final assembly.
