The College Minivan Part 6

5th January 2003

The finishing touches have mostly been put to the van - some small items to finish off, but it came home under it's own steam yesterday.  I'm really pleased with the results too and hope to take it to a show or two this coming season.

Frank was not too keen on applying slightly flattened 2-pack lacquer to the wheels, after they had been sandblasted, primed and silvered - I had to fight a bit, but they were never shiny silver when new - and I'm over the moon with the result.

The front panel looks fantastic without that hideous saloon grille covering it.  That was sold on Ebay to finish off someone else's restoration.

It was never meant to be a concours restoration, but the result is pleasing to the eye and you don't see many standard Vans around these days.  I'll try to add a page or two of the shows it gets to this season.

At rest outside Pete's self-built house
